Wilmington is a town located within Essex County, in upstate New York. The town is near the Whiteface region of the Adirondack Park and is in the valley of the AuSable River. The adventures of Charlie the Goose, his family and friends take place there.

While growing up, Alex and his family would spend summer & winter vacations in upstate New York in the Town of Wilmington where his grandparents lived. The story about Charlie the Goose was inspired by Alex’s grandparent’s pet geese, and his childhood memories of visiting upstate New York.
